Cornel Morton
Since joining Cal Poly as the Vice President for Student Affairs in 2002, Cornel Morton has led the Division to new heights. Under his leadership several innovative programs have been successfully launched. Most notable these include a popular speakers’ series entitled, "Provocative Perspectives,", the First Year Experience initiative, and the Inclusive Excellence initiative.
Involvement in important administrative efforts such as the Student Success Council, the Substance Use and Abuse Advisory Committee, the Academic Assessment Council, and the Student Quality Advisory Committee has positioned the Division as a leader in institutional collaborations that are designed to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Trey Duffy
Trey Duffy has been the director of the Disability Resource Center at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo since 2006. The DRC has been providing accommodations and services to students with disabilities at Cal Poly since the late 1970’s.
Recently, its "Think B4U Buy, Teach, Design" project was selected as a model initiative and received statewide recognition for its efforts toward making electronic and information technologies accessible.The DRC has spearheaded efforts to implement the principles of universal design that will provide people with disabilities direct access to learning and physical environments and begin to eliminate the need for special accommodations.
Andrene Kaiwi-Lenting
Andrene Kaiwi-Lenting is the Assistant Director for Student Life & Leadership and also serves as the Coordinator of Orientation Programs. Andrene is currently a part-time faculty member for the College of Education. As an active member and leader of the National Orientation Director's Association (NODA) she served as association president from 2002-2004 and is a member of the Orientation Professionals Institute faculty for the association.
Orientation Programs, at Cal Poly, is nationally recognized for its student leaders and volunteerism, its community relations, and its ability to outreach to new students in transition. Orientation Programs produces three major programs -- Open House Preview Weekend, Student Orientation, Advising and Resources (SOAR) Program, and the Week of Welcome (WOW).
Martin Shibata
Martin Shibata has worked with Career Services at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo since 1990, serving as Director since 2004. Career Services provides a vital campus service by assisting students in exploring, formulating, and implementing career plans.
Career Services also promotes and supports effective relations between the University and employers. This has been demonstrated by hosting quarterly job fairs, serving as many as 180 companies and 550 recruiters a day and providing employers with access to Cal Poly students and graduates. In addition, Career Services has been recognized by the academic community for assisting the colleges in assessing student learning outcomes, measuring institutional effectiveness and supporting accreditation.
