UP Beat: Unlimited Possibilities Stories

Supporting student success

Student Affairs created a series called UP Beat – unlimited possibilities stories about supporting student success.  We are passionate about helping students achieve their goals, or as we like to say it, “embrace their unlimited possibilities!”

We do this by creating a culture of excellence and innovation, enhancing their campus experience, and engaging partners like you to ensure their future success.

ASI and Dean of Students support more than 350 student clubs and organizations. These student programs are critical to getting students connected with other students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater community.

Center for Leadership is a campus resource for any students who wants to gain a better of understanding of leadership to help them achieve personal and professional success. Students who participate in these programs leave with a sense that, even without a leadership title, they can affect change and facilitate success.

Cross Cultural Centers, which represents the MultiCultural Center, Pride Center, and Gender Equity Center, are committed to advocating for the unique needs of all students by making Cal Poly more inclusive. They host dozens of programs, events and services for all students to learn, build community, and give back to others.

Safer provides sexual assault prevention and violence prevention education, crisis counseling, advocacy, and support services for the entire Cal Poly community. They work hard to create a respectful and aware campus that is inclusive of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, and backgrounds.

Counseling Services takes a holistic approach to supporting the development of the student's emotional health and wellbeing. They serve the campus community through advocacy and the provisions of confidential, accessible services.

Student Academic Services hosts Summer Institute, an academic orientation program for newly admitted freshman. These students are first in their families to attend college so we make sure that they have the support they need to achieve their goals and get to graduation!

Commencement hosts more than 40,000 guests at the spring commencement ceremonies. They are responsible for providing all commencement-related activities and services to ensure that students and their guests have a memorable experience.

Career Services empowers students to achieve a lifetime of meaningful career success and offers a wide range of career resources for students to tap into their unlimited possibilities.

Alumni Relations engages more than 180,000 Cal Poly alumni through chapter and affinity group events and programming.
