2023-26 Strategic Plan

The 2023-26 strategic plan presents a dedicated vision for the future of Student Affairs at Cal Poly and deliverables that will help our division continue to provide unlimited possibilities for all students.

As a tool for action and decision-making, this plan will guide Student Affairs leaders, empower students, and promote continuous collaboration throughout the Cal Poly community.

The foundation of this strategic plan rests on three broad division-wide goals that support the mission and guiding principles of Cal Poly and align with the strategic priorities for the university.

Mission

Student Affairs promotes student success throughout the Cal Poly experience by providing Learn by Doing opportunities, delivering innovative student-centered programs, supporting personal growth, encouraging lifelong connections and empowering all students within a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. 

Goals

In our plan, we have detailed targeted imperatives that support three division-wide goals and identified specific initiatives to help us achieve these goals. 

1. ELEVATE SENSE OF BELONGING THROUGH INTENTIONAL STUDENT ENGAGEMENT 

• Deliver an unforgettable Cal Poly student experience 

• Intentionally plan for the student of the future 

• Provide unique and individualized programs, services and spaces 

2. ADVANCE WRAPAROUND STUDENT CARE NETWORK 

• Increase student awareness, accessibility and connection to resources 

• Support graduation and retention rates through elevated data intelligence 

• Listen to the student voice and understand their perspective 

3. ENVISION THE CAMPUS OF TOMORROW

• Evolve and align services and systems with major ecosystem shifts 

• Support campus growth and expansion 

• Establish a comprehensive personnel plan
