Office of the Dean of Students

The Office of the Dean of Students provides students with assistance in navigating Cal Poly and connecting them with appropriate resources.

Programs under the Dean of Students include:

  • The CARE Team (Campus Assessment, Response and Education) supports student success by addressing barriers to academic progress, such as mental health challenges, basic needs insecurities, financial struggles, or difficulty navigating campus procedures.
  • The Off-Campus Housing Program helps students make an easy transition from on-campus to off-campus living while encouraging them to become engaged, positive members of the community.
  • Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities administers the California State University Standards for Student Conduct. The office ensures a fair and impartial administration of the disciplinary process while educating students about their responsibilities and protecting the rights of all members of the university community.

Promise Scholars

Promise Scholars

Promise Scholars is comprised of several programs that provide support and services to students across campus. Named to represent the CSU Promise and Student Success Framework, Promise Scholars includes the programs below and Fortune Scholars, MOSAIC Scholars, Presidential Scholars and similar programs under a shared vision of supporting student success.

  • Cal Poly Scholars seeks to support and retain high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds in California schools by providing financial, academic and community resources. 
  • Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) strives to improve the access, retention, and graduation of Cal Poly students who have been historically, economically and/or educationally disadvantaged.
  • TRIO Achievers is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and provides services and programs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
