Cal Poly Establishes Multi-faith Prayer, Meditation Space at Kennedy Library

May 9, 2017

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly’s new Inclusive Prayer and Meditation Room in the Kennedy Library provides students, faculty and staff a dedicated non-denominational space to engage in meditation and faith-based practices.

The space, a joint initiative by Kennedy Library and Student Affairs, offers a welcoming environment to meditate, pray and practice spiritual reflection.

“I’m proud to partner with the library on planning and establishing this shared space for our campus,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Keith Humphrey. “This is a safe, inclusive place where everyone at Cal Poly can freely practice their faith and participate in community- building.”

Adriana Popescu, interim dean of Library Services, said, “The Inclusive Prayer and Meditation Room is a valuable addition to our library’s public spaces. I encourage our campus to help make this a warm and inviting place where all individuals and groups are treated with respect and dignity.”

The space is available on a first-come basis. For more information, visit http://lib.calpoly.edu/study-spaces-and-tech/library-spaces/.
