Thomas Lebens

Thomas Lebens earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Cal Poly in 1989. He is a former president of the Cal Poly Alumni Association and current member of its board of directors and chair of its Professional Development and Networking Committee. In addition, Thomas serves as secretary of the Cal Poly Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Engineering and volunteers with the Cal Poly Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Thomas has also served on the board of directors for the Cal Poly Corporation. While a student at Cal Poly, Thomas served as ASI president, a student senator (now referred to as an ASI board member), and was a member of the ASI Executive Staff. Thomas was also employed as a student by Student Affairs, working in the ASI Business Office installing and maintaining accounting and scheduling computers and networks.

Thomas earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Diego’s School of Law in 1993. He is a licensed patent attorney and partner at Fitch, Even, Tabin & Flannery LLP, a national leader in the field of intellectual property (IP) law. Thomas focuses his practice on the preparation and prosecution of complex patent, trademark and copyright applications, in addition to matters involving IP and business strategy, licensing and infringement issues.
